The Save a Kidney, Save a Family Fund is a fund-raising project of the save.family movement. It was initiated by Lance Alberto C. Acampado through his regular column in the Eastern Samar Reporter - a local newspaper for Eastern Samar.
The fund raising activity was fuelled by an experience which made him realize that life is very important and everyone deserves to be helped in such condition.
Last December 14, 2007 he got hospitalized because of kidney stones. He got well but then the problem recurred by late January and he had to undergo a procedure wherein a J stent was inserted into his kidney to flush out infection.
He has to go back after three months, that is about last week of April or first week of May 2008 for the removal of the stent.
During his two hospitalizations he realized how hard it is to be financially incapable of undergoing medication. He also had the sad experience of not having enough support from people he expected to extend assistance in his times of need.
Because of this he decided to initiate a fund raising hoping to be able to raise enough not only for his continued medication but also in order to help others who are too poor to undergo medication though very necessary. And the Save a Kidney, Save a Family Fund was born, a project which will become a part of the activities of the save.family movement- an organization which will manage the Fund and fulfill his other plans for the sake of the family and of every family.
